Community Grows with New Orchard
More than 60 students in Chicago got their hands dirty as part of Fruit Tree 101 when they planted a fruit orchard at Hatch Elementary School. Fruit Tree 101 – a partnership between Stretch Island Fruit Co. and the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation – donates orchards to schools across the country to address proper nutrition and sustainability.
“It's already been a great community-building experience, and I know it's going to continue to enrich our lives in so many ways,” said teacher Cathi Knickrehm.
